Electric Diffusers – Used with Aroma Oils, these diffusers are the luxury end of home fragrance. Available in ceramic, glass, metal and more, these diffusers are designed to turn liquid into mist, releasing scent through a gentle vapour. Plug-in Diffusers – More often used for function rather than style, a plug-in does exactly what it says on the tin! Simply, plug-in and a scent will be released. These are a more subtle option and are often used in bathrooms not as a design option.

From small desktop diffusers to 10L giant display diffusers. Each one uses the same function, a diffuser jar with reeds, the reeds soak up the scent to release into the room. We supply a wonderful range of diffuser jars for different styles, En accompany these with reeds from our collection and you are almost there!

Essential Oil Diffusers

How long with a reed diffuser last?

The longevity of a reed diffuser greatly depends on various factors such as the quality of the essential oils, the type of reeds used, and the environment in which it is placed. However, on average, a good quality reed diffuser can last anywhere from 3-6 months.

However you must keep in mind that not all environments are created equal! Hotter climates tend to evaporate faster than colder ones resulting in quicker depletion rates for your diffuser liquid inside your bottle making them less effective over time. Similarly windy or drafty areas would cause a rapid dispersal rate whereas more enclosed spaces may lead to slower dissipation rates and a beautiful scented space!

Apart from environmental factors; proper maintenance is crucial for prolonging your diffuser. Regularly flipping over your sticks could help revive fading fragrances, keeping any single wood stick from being consumed too fast. As well as preventing any mould growth and cross-contamination.

What are the best reeds for a diffuser?

Unlike traditional candles or plug-in air fresheners, reed diffusers offer a non-toxic and flame-free option for long-lasting fragrance. However, with the wide variety of reed materials available on the market, it can be overwhelming to determine which one is best suited for your needs.

Before delving into the best reed material for diffusers, it’s important to understand what exactly these materials do and how they work. The primary role of reeds in a diffuser is to absorb scented oils from the bottle and then disperse them into the surrounding air. Different materials have varying levels of porosity and capillary action, affecting their ability to absorb and release oils.

One popular material used in reed diffusers is rattan. Derived from palm trees native to Southeast Asia, rattan has an open cellular structure that allows it to effectively absorb oils while also retaining its shape when submerged in liquid. This makes it an ideal choice for diffusers with thicker or more concentrated oils that may clog other types of reeds.

Another common material used in reed diffusers is bamboo sticks. Compared to rattan, bamboo sticks have a denser structure due to their solid core. This means they are better suited for thinner essential oils as they can withstand higher viscosity without bending or breaking.

For those looking for an eco-friendly option, there are also natural wooden sticks made from materials such as birch or willow available on the market. These porous woods are able to effectively absorb scented oils while also adding a touch of rustic charm to your decor.

In addition to these natural options, synthetic fiber rods are also commonly used in reed diffusers. These man-made fibers often come pre-treated with special coatings designed specifically for optimal oil absorption and dispersal.

When choosing between these various material options, it’s important to consider not only the type of oil being used but also the size of the diffuser and the desired fragrance intensity. Rattan reeds are great for larger rooms or stronger scents, while bamboo sticks are better suited for smaller spaces or lighter fragrances.

Ultimately, there is no one “best” material for reed diffusers as it largely depends on personal preference and specific usage. However, rattan and bamboo sticks tend to be favoured by many due to their efficient absorption abilities and versatility in handling different types of oils.
